COALITION DIRECTOR, BROTHERS SONS SELVES The Brothers, Sons, Selves Coalition (BSS) is a powerful alliance of nine community-based organizations whose mission is to end the criminalization of young boys and men of color by creating public policy that invests in young people and their future. Founded in 2011, BSS has been at the forefront of advocating for transformative policies that address issues like school discipline reform, the school-to-prison pipeline, and youth criminalization throughout Los Angeles County. Through its collaboration with local partners, BSS empowers the rights and well-being of young men of color, particularly by advancing alternative solutions to punitive practices in schools and communities across Los Angeles and Long Beach.
