Job Description

Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts (“GSEMA”) is seeking qualified candidates for the full-time position of Associate Director of Finance.

Reporting to the Senior Director of Finance, the full-time Associate Director of Finance will support various aspects of the financial management for GSEMA revenue cycles including, but not limited to, investments, retail sales, program revenues, and donations. A strong non-profit accounting background is an important skill set to bring with you to GSEMA. 

This position is a hybrid work arrangement, with a GSEMA office located in Andover, MA with travel to other GSEMA locations as needed.

As a member of the Finance team the Associate Director of Finance will:

  • Provide cross-department financial reporting oversight, including compliance, accounting, and reporting for all grants, restricted donations, and endowments.
  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual general ledger closing processes, the independent audit, tax returns, and other regulatory filings as needed.
  • Ensure transactions are in accordance with GAAP and internal policies and controls are followed; communicate exceptions to management.
  • Perform other accounting functions and reporting for internal and external reporting purposes.

Qualifications

As the Associate Director of Finance, you have:

  • A college degree in Accounting with five (5) plus years of previous non-profit accounting work experience.
  • High proficiency in the use of Microsoft Windows and Office (Excel, Word), including managing large data files utilizing Excel pivot tables.
  • The ability to effectively identify, analyze and solve practical problems and successfully manage a variety of variables and personalities; ability to adapt in a changing environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills; ability to work collaboratively with team members and other functional areas to further council goals.
  • Demonstrated accuracy, thoroughness, and quality of work; excellent attention to detail.
  • The ability to handle high-volume tasks; excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills.
  • The ability to maintain the utmost confidentiality.
  • The capacity to, independently and as part of a team, plan, organize and prioritize work, while managing multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • A willingness to learn new skills, processes, and software applications and are self-motivated.

A plus if you have:

  • Experience with Abilia MIP system.
  • Experience with CampMinder, Netsuite, Salesforce, OpSuite, Doubleknot, and Raiser’s Edge systems.
  • Experience with data conversions related to system migrations and upgrades.

Physical Demands: 

  • Ability to lift and manipulate up to 15 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation. 
  • May involve prolonged periods of sitting or working on a computer.
  • May need to ascend and descend stairs or ramps in office and other settings.
