About the role

Black Church Food Security Network is looking for a mission-driven operator to join our team as our Development Manager. This person will be responsible for building, managing, and supporting BCFSN development operations. Our startup environment is an ideal fit for someone looking to learn and grow with the organization.


What you’ll do

  • Work directly with BCFSN Executive Director to execute on strategic priorities, develop fundraising operations practices, and support donor engagement
  • Own the compilation and submission of new and renewing grant proposals including managing post-award activities and reporting
  • Plan and execute major fundraising campaigns in collaboration with the Events Manager
  • Attend, assist, and represent BCFSN at key fundraising events, speaking engagements, tours, and other programs
  • Collaborate with team members to create development systems for donor prospecting, solicitation, and stewardship from a diverse base of supporters including corporations, foundations, and individuals
  • Hire and manage external design support to produce development materials including newsletters, one-pagers, stewardship materials, social media posts, and annual reports

Who you are

  • Equipped with 4+ years of experience in a nonprofit development role
  • Someone who enjoys building processes and structure for the data behind development
  • Natural relationship builder with excellent communication skills
  • Exceptionally organized and extremely attentive to detail, with planning, and prioritization skills that don’t falter in a fast-paced work environment
  • A curious and proactive problem-solver who is eager to learn new things
  • Experience with HubSpot, Salesforce, or similar CRM platforms
  • Baltimore Metro Area resident preferred
