Matriculate empowers teams of undergraduates to provide free virtual college advising to high-achieving high school juniors and seniors from low-income backgrounds. Equipped with more than 50 hours of training, undergraduate Advising Fellows provide the information, guidance, and support that these high school students need to apply to, gain admission at, and excel in the best institutions. Matriculate is working to build an America in which all talented students have a fair shot at top colleges and universities long reserved primarily for the elite. Matriculate is a founding partner of Bloomberg Philanthropies' college access and success initiative called CollegePoint, which aims to help as many as 65,000 students to apply to, enroll in, and graduate from the best colleges and universities. Position Overview:

Matriculate is seeking a strategic, mission-oriented leader with sales and revenue savvy to lead the strategy, management, and execution of all internal and external college partnership work. This person will work collaboratively across the organization and make sure college partners advance Matriculate’s work on campus, support undergraduate Advising Fellows, and offset Matriculate’s costs to deliver the program. The ideal candidate will be passionate about Matriculate’s mission, be relationship-oriented, have a strong sales skillset, and will be committed to equity and culturally responsive practices. The Director reports to the Chief Program Officer and oversees a College Partnerships Manager while working closely with the rest of the Matriculate team. This is a full-time position with a competitive salary and benefits package.

Position Responsibilities:

Program Strategy and Execution

  • Lead College Partnership strategy in service of achieving Matriculate’s mission, supporting the program on campuses, and securing earned revenue that offsets costs
  • Source and close new college partners at a pace aligned with Matriculate’s ambitious growth goals
  • Ensure college partners represent a balanced portfolio of institutions, geographies, and types of institutions
  • Advance existing relationships with college partners. Cultivate, elevate, renew and grow agreements
  • Build community and shared practices across college partners
  • Represent the organization to a wide range of institutional stakeholders and own all communication related to the organization’s college partnership program; connect with leaders in the field; develop persuasive marketing materials
  • Develop strong, positive relationships with Matriculate partners and supporters; ensure partners are engaged and recognized
  • Own development of partnership agreements in collaboration with Matriculate counsel; oversee successful execution
  • Work across teams to oversee the roll out of Fellowship launches
  • Collaborate with development team in establishing and executing against earned revenue goals for college partnerships
  • Travel regularly to campuses across the country to attend conferences and connect with partners (Covid restrictions permitting)
  • Be/become an expert in the college access landscape

Management, Data, and Reporting

  • Manage at least one full-time team member
  • Oversee college partnership budget and guide resource allocation decisions to achieve program goals; maintain comprehensive and clear record keeping in Salesforce
  • Work closely with the Revenue team to ensure accurate tracking and reporting of revenue and engagement; partner with Program Operations team to develop relevant systems for scalability
  • Collaborate across the Matriculate program to ensure maximum consistencies and efficiencies, develop a results-oriented mindset and user-focused approach
  • Collect, analyze, interpret, and report program data and qualitative stories to communicate impact internally and externally on a routine basis; foster culture of rigor, knowledge, transparency, learning and continuous improvement

  • Regularly connect with the field to keep apprised of latest priorities and opportunities and approaches 


New York, NY. Matriculate will not reopen an office before July 2022. Staff will receive home office support until that time. When we do reopen, all staff will be hybrid, working remotely and in person.

Candidate Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A deep commitment to Matriculate’s mission
  • A bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years of experience in one or more of the following: higher education, sales, revenue generation, people and program management, ideally focused on education or youth development
  • High degree of personal initiative and capacity to balance the demands of day-to-day work with the need to drive long-term projects and initiatives, understanding the fast-paced and multifaceted nature of our work
  • Ability to build, manage and leverage relationships with a proven track record of flexibility and influence, sales or partnerships experience a plus
  • Superlative attention to detail in performance of responsibilities and project management
  • Strong leadership skills including the ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people, communicate clear expectations, and support an inclusive and collaborative team culture that fosters openness and trust
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as necessary
  • Willingness to travel domestically in urban and rural areas, potentially up to 25%
