Job Description

Position Overview:

The People Business Partner (PBP) position is responsible for partnering with managers and employees to support strong outcomes on the team through successful implementation of HR policies and resources. The PBP is responsible for understanding the business objectives of the teams they support, and for partnering with people managers to ensure the team has the talent and people resources they need to achieve these objectives, while building diverse and inclusive teams with a strong culture. In addition, the PBP is responsible for implementing key HR processes with their assigned teams, including recruitment, onboarding, compensation, employee relations, employment policies, engagement and culture, and other staff-related matters. This position reports to the Director of People & Culture.

·       Advise managers on effective people management practices, as well as matters of HR policy

·       Work with managers to understand their business objectives and develop appropriate talent strategies to meet those objectives (including developing forecasts of staffing / training needs, and other initiatives that might be needed)

·       Support managers with job requisitions and manage the recruitment process for assigned teams In partnership with assigned people managers, develop and implement onboarding plans for new hires to help them understand the culture and history of Scratch, and set them up for success in the organization

·       Manage compensation policies and procedures for assigned teams, including deciding new hire salaries and partnering with people managers to execute the annual compensation review process

·       Coach people managers on how to support the learning, development, and career aspirations of their team members

·       Support the implementation of HR initiatives for assigned teams, including engagement surveys, action planning, and other initiatives both cultural and operational

·       Lead specific HR functional areas for org-wide implementation, determined in partnership with the Director of People & Culture

·       Gather inputs on the effectiveness of HR policies and initiatives; partner with other members of the HR team to make policies and initiatives more effective

·       Support org-wide initiatives related to people and culture, including team and org retreats Take on other responsibilities as needed and appropriate

The compensation range for this position starts at $112,600

We are open to candidates of two different profiles: 1) successful people managers with experience leading front-line teams; and 2) seasoned HR leaders (of any functional area) with a track record of partnering with people managers. For both profiles, we are looking for people with demonstrated success helping the team achieve strong results while building a culture that is inclusive and joyful.

·       8+ years of experience, including experience directly managing a front-line team OR experience as an HR professional partnering with front-line managers

·       Demonstrated success building or supporting teams to strong outcomes while building a joyful and inclusive culture

·       Demonstrated success project managing initiatives of significant scope involving multiple stakeholders

·       Deep knowledge of best practices in managing teams and implementing HR policies and procedures

·       Strong customer service orientation and track record of responding to and supporting the needs of partners, clients or stakeholders

·       Strong written and verbal communication skills, demonstrated ability to influence and motivate others

·       Experience using and managing HRIS systems preferred

·       Experience analyzing data using Microsoft Excel or similar systems preferred
