Job Description

Seeking dynamic forward-thinking leader to oversee and develop cohesive teams, internal processes and procedures associated with the agency's Protective Services Program. Leads professional staff to excellence.

Full-time, 35 hours week.

The Protective Service Program Director (PSPD) oversees the daily operations of the Protective Services program to ensure quality case management and compliance with EOEA regulations.

  • Oversees the daily operations of the Protective Services program including but not limited to the screening and assignment of intakes, conducting investigations within the regulatory timeframes, developing and implementing service plans, and coordinating services with other community resources.
  • Responsible for the overall compliance of the unit including policy development and the development of quality assurance/improvement systems. Works with the supervisory teams to establish systems to measure performance. Maintains a good working relationship with the Executive Office of Elder Affairs Protective Services department.
  • Oversees hiring and training of new Protective Services staff. Works collaboratively with Supervisors to recognize the staff as well as address work performance issues.
  • Develops and maintains positive relationships with community partners including but not limited to: first responders, local hospitals and medical professionals, local housing authorities and/or housing assistance agencies, District Attorney's Offices, local Council on Aging's, and other GSSSI programs and services. Provides community training and outreach as needed.
  • Works with the Assistant Program Director to create ongoing trainings to help support Protective Staff with ongoing professional development, and maintain program consistency and regulatory compliance.
  • Consults with legal counsel when reviewing legal petitions for Guardianships and Conservatorship cases, or any other cases in need legal consultations, which include and are not limited to:
  • Reviewing and signing petitions completed by PS legal counsel
  • Consult with legal on cases in need of a protective order, the appointment of a Conservator/Guardian, and assists PSWs with stopping unsafe discharge of elders from Hospitals, Skilled Nursing facilities, and other community institutions.
  • Maintain and enforce strict confidentiality standards and ensure the security of protective consumers.
  • Provide guidance to PSSs, PSWs on issues relating to safeguarding elders in the community
  • Design, implement, and manage new projects as assigned.
  • Provides technical supports to other programs within GSSSI and community agencies.
  • Hours of work are subject to change based on the needs of the organization.
  • Rotating on-call duties including nights and weekends.

Qualifications

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

 

  • Masters or higher degree from an accredited school in social work, psychology, counseling, human development, nursing, sociology, criminal justice, public health, public policy, or gerontology, and at least two (2) years of experience in counseling, casework, case management, preferably in Protective Services or crisis intervention role.
    • OR
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited school in social work, psychology, counseling, human development, nursing, sociology, criminal justice, public health, public policy, or gerontology, and at least three (3) years of experience in counseling, casework, case management, preferably in Protective Services or crisis intervention role.
  • Three years' experience in management and supervision of staff required.
  • Two years minimum experience in provision of Elder services preferred.
  • Experience with developing and maintaining quality assurance measures preferred.
  • Experience with developing and writing department policies and procedures preferred.
