The KIPP Foundation trains and develops outstanding educators to lead KIPP public schools; provides tools, resources and training for excellent teaching and learning; promotes innovation; and facilitates the exchange of insights and ideas across KIPP and other public schools and organizations.

Since our inception, KIPP has striven to be outcomes-oriented and data-driven, with a belief that coupling a focus on results with high expectations is foundational to progressing toward our aspiration for our students and alumni. Throughout our history, we've exhibited sector leadership and a deep commitment to being data-informed as evidenced by our performance transparency via Healthy Schools and Regions Essential Questions, our engagement in multiple longitudinal studies examining KIPP's impact, and the publication of our College Completion report. At this moment, we are at an exciting inflection point in our data and data systems work, and we have the opportunity to execute against our current plans while also investing to build the future systems, analytic capabilities, and reporting capabilities that we need to drive continuous improvement in our outcomes, support the scale and scope of our network (175,000+ students and alumni), and deliver against the Data & Analytics team objectives described below. We also have a renewed commitment to operationalize our data and systems strategy in alignment with our commitment to embody racial justice as an institution to promote equitable opportunities and outcomes.

The Vice President, Data and Analytics will be responsible for leading our national Data and Analytics team in supporting the KIPP Foundation and the KIPP Network to:

• Use data to learn, collaborate and improve our performance by supporting strategic prioritization, continuous improvement, program evaluation and tactical decision-making
• Ensure collective accountability to our mission
• Enable intentional inquiry and learning in support of our commitment to racial justice and equity by elevating intersectional equity focal areas (e.g., race, gender, special education status)
• Report with transparency and consistency externally as a network of public schools, to celebrate progress, highlight successes and challenges, and share our story and what we are learning
• Report with transparency and consistency internally to benefit programs and regions by intentionally sharing performance trends, actionable insights, and bright spots

In service to these objectives, the Vice President, Data and Analytics (VP D&A) will lead and support our Data & Analytics team in executing data collection; strengthening data systems and infrastructure (collaboratively with our Technology team); analyzing data, evaluating programs, and generating insights; reporting and storytelling; engaging in external research; and building regional data capacity / supporting regional data infrastructure. The VP D&A will set the strategic data vision; execute against that vision; lead, manage, and develop an exceptional team; lead with a focus on and commitment to equity and inclusion; and ensure excellent partnership and collaboration with multiple national teams. The VP D&A will report to the Chief Data, Technology, and KIPP Forward Officer and will be an integral member of KIPP's Expanded Leadership Team.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Set the strategic and executional vision for data use and data systems across the KIPP Foundation and the KIPP network

• Co-lead efforts with VP of Technology to determine next iteration of our data strategy: how best can KIPP leverage data to learn, drive performance improvement, ensure accountability to our mission, and support internal / external storytelling
• Set vision on reporting data to ensure performance transparency, balancing push and pull strategies
• Collaborate with program leads to create measures that reflect programmatic goals and align with our priorities and landscape
• Lead measure creation given our changing priorities and landscape
• Create vision on storytelling with data
• Develop a multi-year plan to advance KIPP toward the strategic vision, and lead the team in executing against that plan

Drive execution, rigorously monitor progress, and drive process improvement in key data collection, analyses and insight generation, and reporting milestones to

• Implement effective data collection and verification drives with regional practitioners
• Drive network wide understanding of key longitudinal and cross-sectional performance trends
• Provide key national, regional, and school leaders with critical outcome and leading indicator data to support their strategic and tactical decision-making
• Partner with national programmatic leaders to understand and drive improvement in national programmatic priorities (e.g., Early Literacy, High School Excellence, Postsecondary Counseling, Principal Pipelines) and to inform emerging initiatives
• Lead D&A team in disaggregating data to strengthen our understanding of intersectional equity focal areas (e.g., race, gender, special education status)

Lead and strengthen the Data & Analysis team's cross-team collaboration and partnership efforts

• Partner closely with KIPP's national Technology team to strengthen our Data and Business Intelligence infrastructure including data collection, data warehousing, and reporting systems
• Collaborate with KIPP's national program teams and Strategy team to: understand performance, generate insights, and support their national communities of leaders, teachers, and counselors
• Ensure that internal and external research informs our programmatic strategies
• Engage with KIPP's national Development, Communications, and Marketing teams to support the cultivation and stewardship of philanthropic support and federal grants and ensure our communications and marketing efforts are enhanced via the inclusion of key performance data and trends
• Partner with KIPP regions to strengthen local data systems and build technical and analytic capacity

Lead and support the continued growth and development of the national Data & Analytics (D&A) Team

• Maintain and strengthen a team culture that is that impact-oriented, student and alumni focused, collegial and collaborative, inclusive and equitable, and committed to learning and continuous improvement
• Lead and manage team of ~20 through multiple layers, including 3-4 direct reports
• Support team member professional development and growth by providing ongoing feedback, coaching, and targeted developmental opportunities
• Set, track, and hold accountability for annual multi-million-dollar team budget

Oversee and support our external research and stakeholder survey efforts

• Partner with program teams and our Strategy team, prioritize and execute against internal program evaluation efforts
• Coordinate with external researchers to evaluate KIPP's impact and ensure findings are disseminated to both external and internal audiences.
• Design (or adapt) and administer surveys of students, staff and alumni and ensure stakeholders have access to timely insights and reporting

Actively engage as a senior leader of the KIPP Foundation

• Ensure KIPP Foundation and KIPP Network leadership have strong understanding of performance trends, insights, and research
• Contribute to Foundation-level strategic decision making as a member of the KIPP Foundation Expanded Leadership Team
• Represent KIPP with external funders and partners
• Honor KIPP's values around sense of purpose, results, respect, constant learning and humility and diversity and inclusivity
