Job Description

The Comptroller has primary responsibility for Flamboyan’s back-office financial functions. You will manage all day-to-day finance activities of a $7-12 million budget including accounting, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, monthly reconciliations, and grants management, as well as overall financial compliance. You will support presentations to senior leadership and work closely with the Senior Managing Director of Finance and Operations and other members of the Finance and Operations Team to ensure that Flamboyan has the systems and procedures in place to support effective program implementation and conduct impeccable audits. In service to our short and long-term organizational goals to ensure students in Washington DC and Puerto Rico thrive, you will serve as a stalwart custodian of Flamboyan’s funds and assets and oversee financial compliance to ensure that our team members are high-functioning and effective stewards of the organization’s resources.

Finance + Accounting


You have demonstrated experience in non-profit accounting ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements | You’ve managed payroll administration | You have experience presenting on financial reports | You have created or managed protocols and tools that enable organizations and their staff to responsibly steward resources | You have experience with annual budgeting and planning | You have managed budgets and/or financial reporting for government, corporate, and/or foundation grants| You have an impeccable attention to detail and value accuracy.

Hiring Organization

Flamboyan Foundation


  • 5+ years of relevant professional experience, non-profit accounting experience is a plus.
  • Experience with enterprise accounting software and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Knowledge of GAAP and other regulatory and financial standards and requirements.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
