Job Description

The Just Trust seeks to hire an experienced Marketing & Communications Manager to support all aspects of the organization’s external communications and brand marketing efforts. This role will work super cross functionally and in collaboration with all members of the TJT team.

The ideal candidate is a master strategist and jack-of-all-trades project manager with technical expertise in a broad range of external communications work, including: content development, messaging and writing; media relations; digital media & channel management; events strategy and execution; relationship management, and fundraising communications. They are a strong writer with experience drafting everything from speeches and talking points to social media and newsletter content, for a variety of audiences. They ideally have firsthand communications experience in advocacy, movement building, and/or a campaign environment, and have worked directly with development/fundraising teams on collateral, impact/annual reports, and other materials development. They love being proactive but know how to react with precision. They are excited by the idea of supporting a small, scrappy, hardworking team focused on big, big challenges. And, they love storytelling and making creative ideas come to life to support social change and organizational sustainability. 

Essential Duties 

Content curation and development

  • Write and develop engaging content for TJT’s channels: This may include press releases, op-eds, presentations, speeches, social media and blog content, and other materials that effectively communicate TJT’s messaging, values, and impact; includes editorial calendar management 
  • Manage TJT email newsletters 
  • Partner with the Program (grants & field strategy) team on grantee and impact storytelling 
  • Partner with Investment Partnerships (donor relations) team on marketing collateral development and communications for specific donor audiences.

Events 

  • Project manage events and speaking engagements; this can include donor events, public engagements, or media events

Leadership team engagement 

  • Conduct research and prepare leadership team members with talking points and strategy in advance of key external meetings, funder engagements, conferences, other appearances

Systems support

  • Lead stakeholder for Marketing and Communications Department on maintaining and optimizing internal contact and relationship management systems for both investment partnerships and brand/comms.

Please note this is a full-time, temporary role for one year, with possibility of extension.

The person holding this position may also work part-time for a coordinated project, The Just Trust for Action, a 501(c)(4) organization, under a resource sharing agreement between The Just Trust for Education and The Just Trust for Action. The responsibilities under that position will be overseen by The Just Trust’s CEO.

Qualifications

 

  • Proven experience in strategic communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field, preferably in a managerial capacity.
  • Donor marketing and fundraising experience a strong plus.
  • Strong understanding of various communication channels, including digital and traditional media platforms.
  • Exceptional writing skills, with the ability to tailor messages for different audiences and convey complex ideas in a clear and concise manner.
  • Strong research capabilities, with the capacity to gather and synthesize information from various sources to support the CEO's key points and vision.
  • Proven experience in planning and executing a wide range of events, with a strong track record of delivering successful and impactful experiences for diverse audiences.
  • The ability to thrive in a dynamic and rapidly growing organization that requires you to flex between strategic, operational, and tactical levels.
  • A deep alignment and commitment to criminal justice reform and racial justice.

This is a full-time, temporary role for one year, with possibility of extension. The salary range for this role is  $110,000 - $140,000, depending on experience.
