Job Description

Since 2016, Basta has worked with thousands of first-generation college students of color to launch their careers and change the face of leadership in the workforce, resulting in the country's best job placement outcomes. Through personalized AI-powered career planning, best-in-class coaching, and networking with top 100 employers, New York-based job seekers in Basta’s Fellowship program find great jobs at nearly twice the rate of their peers. Our Powered By Basta program is scaling this impact through game-changing analytics and online support that supercharges colleges’ career success programs so students nationwide can accelerate their professional journey.

American undergrads are facing a job market beset by systemic underemployment. The problem is especially severe for the nearly 5 million first-generation college students: only 44% of first-gen students of color land a job that requires their degree, and only 20% earn a living wage within a year of graduation.

These trailblazers have the smarts, skills, and experience to land a job that leverages their degree, pays well, and forges a path to a thriving career. Basta partners with colleges, nonprofits, and employers to build that bridge of opportunity.

The Director of Discovery is a new role within our organization, aimed at leading Discovery —a hybrid learning solution, combining tech and live programming, that is purchased by nonprofits and universities to provide first-generation students with personalized access to proven career readiness skills and best practices. The role is an individual contributor position, focusing heavily on cross-functional collaboration and user engagement.

  • Program Management: Oversee the implementation of the Discovery program, ensuring smooth rollout and integration for student participants, partners, and internal teams.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with marketing, facilitators, customer success, sales, operations, product, data, and design teams to coordinate efforts and drive the success of both the  Discovery product assets, hub and live sessions.

  • Customer and User Engagement: In conjunction with the Product team, create and execute continuous improvement processes to collect and incorporate (internal and external) stakeholder feedback.

  • Program Asset Quality Assurance: Ensure the Discovery hub, a centralized proprietary platform for participants and partners to access resources is functional, updated, and consistently improving usability.

  • Data Driven Improvements: You will monitor user access within the tool over time to drive enhancements and improvements in product design, experience and performance.

  • User Adoption & Retention: Develop strategies to increase participant engagement and retention, using data-driven insights to improve engagement and conversion rates.

  • Impact Measurement: In collaboration with the data team, develop KPIS to measure and understand the impact of the program and product use on Fellow success.
