Job Description

About the Organization

The Hunts Point Alliance for Children (HPAC) is a Bronx-based nonprofit organization focused on building community, empowering parents, and ensuring all children have the resources, skills, and confidence to achieve their limitless potential. HPAC accomplishes its goals by leveraging resources within and outside the Hunts Point community to provide options for learning, identifying educational opportunities, and offering a safe learning space for the children and families we serve. All HPAC's programs – from early childhood through high school graduation and beyond -- focus on three core principles: literacy, school engagement and social-emotional competency.

Founded in 2007 in partnership with community leaders to address educational and service gaps in the Hunts Point community in order to improve academic outcomes and create a pathway out of poverty for the local youth. Since its founding, HPAC has grown significantly and has helped children and families since its inception by providing the resources and support necessary for a healthy, productive and successful life.

We work directly with students and families to carry out our mission through the following programming initiatives:

  • Early Childhood Education: engages parents as partners to inspire a love of literacy and learning in children 0-5 and to provide the skills necessary for the parents to support and encourage their children's development

  • HPAC Arts: our year-round programs aim to broaden our scholars' horizons and help them foster a love of learning, gain aptitude for critical thinking, and develop an appreciation for the arts. These programs include: Shakespeare Ensemble, Ballet in the Bronx, Storefront Ensemble, and Mighty Quills

  • College Readiness: provides academically-focused youth development programs and college and career readiness activities, including direct scholarship support, identification of appropriate school placements, extracurricular and scholarship opportunities, and other programs designed to prepare students for middle school, high school, college and career

  • Supportive Family Services: supports the families of our students to meet their needs and goals in achieving stable housing, education, and employment opportunities

  • The Hunts Point Community Partnership and The Alliance: brings together community members, schools, and service providers to coordinate and develop programs to improve child well-being and increase social capital to benefit the community as a whole

We believe that by addressing the needs of the Hunts Point community holistically, we can leverage the collective knowledge of parents, families, and partner organizations. Our evidence-informed programs, led by our passionate team, aim to strengthen parent-child relationships, enhance academic skills, and support the journey to college or career. HPAC works to ensure that every child in Hunts Point has the opportunity to thrive and reach their full potential.

Core Values

  • Collaboration: We build long-term relationships that are honest, inclusive and supportive with our participants, families, partners and staff.
  • Tenacity: We believe in the limitless potential of Hunts Point children and families and work to ensure that our community has the skills and support to live healthy, productive and successful lives.
  • Holistic Approach: We focus on ensuring that all Hunts Point children and families have access to the necessary academic, social, mental, and physical health tools and opportunities they need and deserve.
  • Empowerment: We inspire hope, instill confidence, and build community through creative, evidence-informed programs designed for children, youth, young adults and families.
  • Purpose Driven: We pursue our goals boldly, adapting and aligning our efforts continuously to meet the evolving needs of our community.
