Job Description

The Major Gifts Officer will be responsible for managing a portfolio of individual donors. In addition to cultivating new and existing Hadassah donors, the Major Gifts Officer will develop strong working relationships with regional volunteers in order to achieve fundraising goals in the territory. The goals of this position are to grow the pipeline of donors throughout the territory. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Build and manage a fundraising portfolio of at least 150 major donors and major gift prospects.    
  • Portfolio will contain campaign, hospital, and unrestricted major donors.    
  • Develop and implement prospect and donor engagement strategies, including identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship; and including:    
  • Profiling prospective donors and initiate contact with key business people and decisions makers in the local Jewish community;   
  • Promoting visits of new and established Major Donors to Hadassah Medical Organization (HMO) in Jerusalem;   
  • Collaboration with local volunteer leaders to identify and engage major gift prospects.    
  • Support the development of the "case for giving" for National Hadassah, its domestic programs, and Hadassah hospital in Jerusalem, Israel, including an upcoming $91.2 million capital campaign   
  • Partner with national staff to create solicitation proposals, correspondence, stewardship reports, donor profiles, and other donor-related materials.   
  • Collaborate with manager and volunteers to create annual plan with financial and non-financial benchmarks including a pipeline of prospective donors with timing, engagement strategy and ask amount.   
  • Assist with annual budget and monitoring of monthly expenses   
  • Maintain effective communication with regional and national volunteers and staff   
  • Prepare briefings and other written materials for U.S. & Israel organization leadership, when enlisting their help in the cultivation and solicitation of prospects and donors.   
  • Represent Hadassah at appropriate occasions or events and promote visits of Hadassah health professionals at lectures and donor meetings.   
  • Track all activity in the national database; maintain accurate records of all donor/prospect interactions and strategies for future engagement   
  • Attend regular professional development trainings and briefings on HWZOA.   
  • Other tasks and duties reasonable related to job responsibilities

Position Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; an advanced degree is preferred.   
  • A minimum of 7 years of professional fundraising experience, utilizing moves management, preferably in a complex, volunteer driven organization with affiliates or chapters.    
  • Competent networker with a diplomatic and persuasive personality, and ability to convey the organizational mission.   
  • Proven track record in individual major gifts fundraising and capital campaigns and in direct solicitation of donors/prospects.   
  • Proven skills in creating effective proposals for specific donors.   
  • Ability to manage several projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.   
  • Goal-oriented, entrepreneurial, and enthusiastic, and a responsive flexible working style.   
  • Familiarity with planned giving vehicles, a plus.   
  • Travel, evening and weekend work required, with ability to work independently from a home office, or organization's chapter or regional office.   
  • Ability to travel, valid driver's license.
