OPPORTUNITY
Planned Parenthood of the North Country New York, Inc. (PPNCNY) provides the highest quality healthcare, education, and advocacy to ensure the right and ability of all individuals to manage their own sexual and reproductive health - no matter what. The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) role has significant responsibility and influence, both in terms of serving the local community and contributing to the national organization's priorities and strategies. The impact of PPNCNY’s patient services and programming for the individuals and communities of the North Country is direct, immediately evident, and often life changing. In addition to the oversight of PPNCNY’s business operations, patient services and programming, the engagement in advocacy and community organizing makes for an exciting, challenging, and multifaceted role.
ORGANIZATION
PPNCNY is a health services, education, and advocacy not-for-profit corporation 501(c)(3) and affiliate of Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA). PPNCNY is a large, complex organization offering an array of comprehensive medical services, educational programming, and advocacy opportunities with seven health centers spanning six counties across the region. PPNCNY works with rural, predominately low socio-economic communities in Northern New York and provides essential patient services and care for underserved patients, LGBTQIA+ rights, gender-affirming care, and abortion services not available elsewhere. PPNCNY provides high-quality, affordable family planning and reproductive health care for nearly 12,000 people in the North Country each year. annually. A shared service model for finance and IT operations optimizes resources and organizational efficiency, and the affiliation with the national federation creates a platform for visibility, recognition, impact and support.
PPNCNY consistently ranks in the top 5% nationally for employee engagement within PPFA and, since 2021, in the top quartile of medical practices across the country in patient satisfaction (Source: Press Ganey). The working culture of the current, tenured team is relationship-centered, collaborative, and cohesive. Most staff are also community members and are aware of the unique challenges and needs through connections, personal relationships and shared lived/living experiences.
Located adjacent to the Adirondack Mountains, PPNCNY is home to world-class outdoor recreation and natural beauty, charming towns and villages, and a short drive to Ottawa, Canada, New York City, and New England, home to rich culture and history. With holistic educational programming, passionate and dedicated people, and a commitment to DEI, PPNCNY is supported by a staff of 70, governed by a ten-member board, and financially healthy with approximately $8.5M in revenue.
THE ROLE
The CEO of PPNCNY will lead the organization to provide the highest quality healthcare, education and advocacy to ensure the right and ability of all individuals to manage their own sexual and reproductive health. An ever-changing, dynamic and diverse societal landscape is the backdrop for all PPNCNY’s work and the CEO will work to secure a future in which all North Country residents have the sexual healthcare, information, and power they need to live the healthiest lives possible.
The CEO will ensure operational excellence and a smooth transition while gaining an understanding of institutional knowledge and becoming acquainted with key stakeholders. Immediate organizational priorities include:

Responsibilities
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO provides overall leadership, management, and planning of PPNCNY collaborating with staff and the Board to fulfill the mission of the organization. The CEO is the chief spokesperson for the affiliate, representing PPNCNY to donors, PPFA, local and government agencies, and the community at large. Responsibilities of the role include:
The CEO is responsible for holding the strategic vision and fulfilling PPNCNY’s mission, attending to business operations, steering and championing PPNCNY’s leadership team, representing PPNCNY’s interests with key stakeholders locally and nationally, and ensuring a healthy, generative work culture for staff at all levels of the organization.
The CEO will be committed to strengthening and deepening PPNCNY’s DEI strategy and initiatives. A willingness to think critically about and advocate for existing DEI initiatives, and a commitment to continuous learning and deepening PPNCNY’s DEI strategy is crucial.

The Chief Executive Officer position is a full-time exempt position with a hybrid work-environment that may be based in the Watertown, NY or Plattsburgh, NY administrative office. A regional presence to Northern NY, and a willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, is required. The CEO will be available to visit health clinics, events and conferences with significant local and national travel. PPNCNY offers a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, paid time off, and 401k retirement plan, as well as opportunities for professional development and continuing education. Salary is competitive with relevant experience, within the framework of the organization’s annual operating budget, and in the approximate range of $175,000-210,000.
