Responsibilities
The Executive Search and Transition Consultant (Consultant) works to identify top talent to match TSNE clients’ job opportunities, and manages executive search processes, through TSNE’s Consulting and Training Program Team. The Consultant provides technical knowledge and advisory services across a range of recruitment, search, and related competencies to provide excellent full life-cycle Executive Search and Transition (EST) services to clients and consultants. Services include leadership profile assessment, candidate identification and development, research, sourcing, screening, and selection for client search processes, advisement on compensation benchmarking and onboarding support, as well as best practices for executive search processes. The Consultant engages in select business development efforts with prospective clients and works in collaboration with EST clients, an external consultant pool, and other TSNE Programs, Consulting and internal staff in support of executive search, recruiting and transition work.
Essential Functions
Executive Search, Recruitment, and Transition Consulting Support – 70%
- Regularly serve as lead consultant on executive search and transition projects; support select external consultant led projects.
- Engage in client intake and pitches, scoping and contracting process, including providing related information to clients and responding to inquiries, helping to ensure that all EST inquiries from clients, potential clients, TSNE client engagement team, and others, are responded to promptly and appropriately.
- Work collaboratively with various stakeholders including consultants, board members, clients, nonprofit executives, internal colleagues and others to forward individual searches and the overall search process.
- Serve as advisor and consultant to client search committees, transition teams, board, and staff.
- Employ traditional recruitment strategies and resources and develop and implement new search-specific ideas and models, as supported by TSNE; utilize a variety of sources with a focus on industry mapping, targeted research, and the use of candidate and nonprofit databases, direct sourcing, job boards, social media and networking to build qualified and diverse candidate pools; provide advice and coaching to clients on the development and implementation of effective recruitment strategies.
- Collaborates with clients, consultants, search support staff, and others as needed, to create clearly written position descriptions and communications documents; develop search strategies; conduct candidate resume screening, phone screens and reference checks; design interview processes; conduct market compensation benchmarking, and; provide guidance on background check processes.
- Communicates with candidates to facilitate their participation in the search, representing both TSNE and the client, with a focus on candidate development and retention; develop clients and candidates, conduct networking and sourcing, build pipelines and relationships.
- Assists in the refinement, development and implementation of complimentary EST services.
- Assists in delegating work, as appropriate, to search support staff in coordination with the Manager.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with TSNE EST clients, consultants and candidates; provide ongoing proactive support to constituents as needed during the search and transition life cycle.
- Support in training, onboarding, and support for external pool.
Practice Development and Organizational Support – 30%
- Identify and develop recruitment strategies for current and future talent while building relationships with key thought leaders across the nonprofit sector.
- Actively contribute to the development, management, cultivation, evaluation, and improvements to TSNE’s executive search and transition program.
- Contribute to the development of materials for prospective client meetings and/or proposals.
- Work with TSNE internal staff and consultants to review and refine best practices in operational support and technical recruitment services.
- Work in partnership with the Manager across TSNE departments to ensure that EST systems meet varied client and consultant needs.
- In coordination with Manager and EST team, lead special projects and develop tools to support TSNE clients (workshops, trainings, market research, toolkit development, etc.)
- As capacity permits and with support from TSNE staff, present occasional workshops and other informational and thought materials to promote EST practices and the work and accomplishments of TSNE.
- Stay abreast of new and evolving trends and search, recruitment, and transition practices, and integrate their use into EST activities as appropriate.
- Support Manager in other Executive Search and Transition work as needed.
Complete other tasks and projects related to the position, as needed.

- Four or more years of experience with full life-cycle executive search and recruitment required.
- Experience in a nonprofit or management consulting setting preferred
- Experience providing consulting services supporting executive search and transition a plus.
- Ability to manage organizational change internally and externally, and the associated challenges.
- Knowledge and facile with recruiting and applicant databases; knowledge of Salesforce, ATS platforms, project management software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to speak persuasively, listen actively and write clearly, across mediums.
- Demonstrated skills in providing a high level of EST services across diverse populations and stakeholders working in a multicultural environment with continual leadership and programmatic transition.
- Experience leading equitable search and recruitment processes strongly desired
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and within a team in a fast-paced environment and to work with demanding constituents and to meet deadlines; ability to juggle multiple tasks and responsibilities; ability to switch gears frequently in order to meet shifting deadlines and priorities.
- Ability to work with individuals at all organizational levels and from diverse backgrounds within and outside of the organization.
- Strong organizational skills with an ability to focus on the details while keeping an eye on the big picture

Physical Demands/Work Environment
The physical demands described for this position are that of a typical office environment. Reasonable accommodations will be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the functions. Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time in front of a computer screen is an essential aspect of the position. There may be a need to lift and/or move materials or equipment.
Location:Work will be performed between our office located at the NonProfit Center at 89 South Street, Suite 700, Boston, MA 02111 and your home office. This position will require you to be on-site for in-person client engagements and some meetings with TSNE staff, funders, and program participants, which may take place outside of the TSNE office and may require to be on-site more regularly with advanced notice.
Schedule: This position is full-time at 37.5 hours per week and hours are flexible within reason.
Compensation and Benefits
Compensation: The salary for this position is $93,500 annually, paid biweekly at $3,596.95.
