People are at the center of the ACLU’s mission and work. The ACLU is seeking a visionary and transformative Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) to lead its HR function and help advance the organization goals, mission and values by fostering a people-centered and inclusive culture. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the CHRO is a key member of the senior leadership team, driving the people strategy and HR operational excellence for a 650+ person workforce, including staff represented by two unions. The CHRO will oversee all aspects of the employee lifecycle and aims to create a best-in-class employee experience through talent acquisition and professional development to compensation, labor relations and ongoing employee engagement.
The annual salary for this position is $365,861, with a robust benefits package. The role is based in New York, NY, with a hybrid work schedule (2 days per week in-office).
The ideal candidate has a consultative leadership style and operational rigor and demonstrated experience with transforming the HR function into a strategic business partner service delivery model that positions the ACLU to adapt, thrive and withstand the ever evolving economic changes and align with ACLU’s strategic objectives. Candidates who have proven HR leadership experience with deep generalist expertise in a complex, unionized environment, along with expertise in strategic planning, cultural transformation, and Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) will be successful. This individual will serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, shaping policies and programs that empower employees to thrive and align with the ACLU’s mission and values.
