About the Position: 

What You'll Do

At its most fundamental level, the Investor Relations team exists to ensure the financial sustainability of New Profit, by managing the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of philanthropic investors within the New Profit community. We build and maintain partnerships with New Profit's individual, corporate, and foundation supporters and are proud to identify and create a network of engaged philanthropists who add meaningful contributions to – and, in return, benefit from - New Profit's broader community of social entrepreneurs, policymakers, and thought leaders who are motivated by the practice of trust based grant-making.

As Partner, Individual Giving, you will help us to grow our community of investors by building deep trust-based relationships based on shared values and a belief in the potential of social entrepreneurs to find and scale the solutions that will transform our society. The Partner, Individual Giving will engage, solicit, steward and cultivate a portfolio of 100+ qualified donors and prospects, focusing primarily on transformational six- and seven-figure gifts. The Partner, Individual Giving will serve as the key link between New Profit's incredible investor community and the rest of the New Profit staff as well as our amazing social entrepreneurs.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in working with philanthropists seeking to make significant philanthropic investments, and will be motivated by building deep, long-term relationships with donors. They will excel at guiding donors through the complexities of strategic giving, offering educational support to deepen their understanding of impact-driven philanthropy, and fostering collaborative partnerships that align donor values with organizational goals.

Who You'll Work With:

You will report to the Managing Partner of Investor Relations and collaborate with program leaders across New Profit’s core grant making areas: democracy, education, and economic mobility.

Key Responsibilities:

Donor Engagement and Solicitation

  • Engage, solicit, steward and cultivate a portfolio of 100+ qualified donors and prospects capable of making six- and seven-figure gifts.
  • Using both quantitative and qualitative data along with research, create customized short-, intermediate-, and long-term strategies for existing donor/prospect portfolios.
  • Organize face-to-face discovery, engagement, and solicitation visits by various stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement strategies to prospect new donors, with a focus on expanding the pool to include next-generation philanthropists, donors in new markets, and individuals from industry sectors that are currently underrepresented within New Profit's donor community.

Stewardship

  • Build strong, trust-based relationships to retain and/or upgrade donors through strategic meetings, personalized outreach, and meaningful events that foster two-way dialogue and shared vision.
  • Tailor stewardship and engagement strategies based on donor giving levels, interests, and readiness for deeper involvement, incorporating educational touchpoints that enhance donors' understanding of New Profit's model and impact.
  • Act as a thought partner to donors by proactively sharing insights on New Profit's key priorities, funding needs, and the broader philanthropic landscape, helping donors make informed, strategic decisions.

Reporting and Analysis

  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of donor interactions in Salesforce.
  • Monitor and report on program metrics and goals, modifying strategies as necessary to meet objectives.
  • Identify success and assessment metrics, analyzing rates, retention, and upgrades.
  • Conduct midcourse (January or June) and yearly review and assessment of pipeline program, making adjustments as necessary.

General

  • Provide input to and work closely with the Managing Partner, Investor Relations to design HNWI strategies in the annual fundraising plan.
  • Represent New Profit at presentations and meetings.
  • Travel frequently to be in the field with our donor community; candidates based outside of New York City, Boston, or Washington, DC should expect to travel up to 75% to these hub cities for donor meetings.

Compensation:

The salary range for the Partner position will be $164,715 - $200,161 annually, with the exact salary depending on prior work experience and the assessment of one's fit for the role. As part of its commitment to salary equity, New Profit has a zero negotiation policy on offers but provides all candidates a 10% signing bonus on their base.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of demonstrated experience, success, and increasing responsibility in fundraising from individuals, preferably in an entrepreneurial and fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • High level of discretion and creative approach to fundraising
  • Proven ability to interact and influence philanthropic leaders
  • Experience motivating and managing high-profile senior executives
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
