The mission of the Health District of Northern Larimer County is to enhance the health of our community.

Overview:

The Health District is a public health agency that provides residents of northern Larimer County with dental, mental health and preventive health services, in addition to connecting people to more affordable prescription and health insurance options.

The Health District is viewed as a cutting-edge, model public health agency in many areas, from its collection and use of local health statistics to its commitment to collaborative community problem solving around mental health and dental care.

Awards:

In 2014, the Health District was designated a silver-level Bicycle Friendly Business by the League of American Bicyclists. 

The League of American Bicyclists today (6.8.21) recognized the Health District of Northern Larimer County with a Gold Bicycle Friendly Business (BFB) award, earning it a place alongside over 1,400 businesses across the country contributing to the movement to build a more Bicycle Friendly America.

Future of company:

Health District strategic priorities are determined by a publicly elected board of directors based on a variety of information, including data from a triennial community health survey.

Competitors:

The Health District is a gap-filling agency that is not in competition with other organizations. However, it does partner with many other local entities, including the Larimer County Department of Health and Environment, Poudre Valley Hospital/University of Colorado Health, SummitStone Health Partners and others.

The Community: An hour north of Denver, Fort Collins is home to Colorado State University and a wealth of cultural and recreational opportunities. Often rated as one of the best places to live in the U.S., Fort Collins boasts a strong economy, a thriving music and arts scene, and a vibrant historic downtown with numerous dining establishments. An outstanding local school system and many youth recreation opportunities make the area ideal for raising a family. Nearby are national forests, the ‘wild and scenic’ Cache La Poudre River, and Rocky Mountain National Park, which are prime locations for hiking, camping, fishing, and whitewater rafting. Fort Collins is known as a bike-friendly community, with miles of trails; and the area has multiple open spaces to explore.
