Aubin Pictures is a nonprofit organization for filmmakers and activists that’s run by filmmakers and activists. Our mission is to create cultural awareness and sustainable justice through transformative, community-based production and impactful distribution of media. We were founded in 1996 by documentary filmmaker and lifelong activist Catherine Gund and scholar, activist, and organizer Scot Nakagawa. Aubin’s work covers a range of topics including art and culture, racial justice, the LGBTQ+ community, reproductive justice, HIV/AIDS, and the concept of democracy. Our nine feature-length documentaries have received recognition with hundreds of film festival screenings and awards, Discovery, Sundance, and PBS broadcasts, two Emmy nominations, and other accolades over the years.
