Founded in 1858 as the Worcester County Musical Association, Music Worcester now operates as a performing arts presenter, annually engaging and bringing to Greater Worcester’s stages a notable schedule of artists, musicians, ensembles, and dance companies. With strong roots in classical music and with frequent choral presentations integral to its schedule through the activities of The Worcester Chorus, Music Worcester has continued to branch out in recent years to welcome leading jazz, folk, and world music artists to Central Massachusetts. Led by an engaged Board of Directors who have overseen significant expansion of the organization’s endowment, Music Worcester considers itself to have a stable financial expansion as Campaign 2025 begins. The return to presenting - as we move into a more managed phase of the COVID-19 pandemic - now runs year-round, with Summer@MW added in 2021. Outreach and community engagement activities have increased dramatically, and now include an Artist-in-Residence program (the inaugural artist-educator having been pianist Simone Dinnerstein during the 2018-2019 Season).
