The Growald Family Fund

Growald Family Fund’s mission is to catalyze climate innovation and leadership through venture philanthropy. There are three pillars to our approach:

  1. Network Leadership: Seed, incubate and scale network initiatives that leverage large scale systemic change and large scale philanthropic cooperation.
  2. Venture Philanthropy Portfolio: Seed and scale organizations with outsize impact potential. 
  3. Furthering the Field: Through research, thought leadership and convenings. 

We work internationally, with a current focus on Asia, South Asia, and Africa. We focus on supporting efforts in the areas of diplomacy, finance, pollution and just transition.

One of the defining characteristics of GFF’s grantmaking is our venture philanthropy approach. This means that we partner with our grantees, working closely on business planning, strategy, organizational development, impact measurement and fundraising. We have a track record of success - we were the first foundation supporters of Carbon Tracker, IEEFA and others. Our current portfolio includes organizations from Asia, South Asia, Europe and Africa. These organizations are early stage visionaries that we assess could have world-changing impact, and we are committed to helping them achieve their full potential.
