Job Description

About Seeds of Peace

For more than 30 years, Seeds of Peace has inspired and equipped young leaders and educators from communities divided by conflict with the skills and relationships they need to create more just and inclusive societies.

Our flagship summer camp set the standard in people-to-people peacebuilding through its dialogue-rooted model that has proven to develop personal leadership, build relationships grounded in trust and empathy, and increase action. Our network of 8,000 alumni from 27 countries demonstrate how relationships built across divides can ripple outward for generations. They are leading across sectors to transform conflict through economic, social, and political change, proving that peace is built through people: one conversation, one collaboration, one brave act at a time.

The Role

We’re looking for a Director of Finance & Administration who sees numbers as a language of trust and systems as an expression of care. For a thoughtful, mission-driven professional, this senior leadership position combines strategic vision and foresight with the hands-on management of financial, administrative, and operational functions, alongside key responsibilities for staff development and partnership engagement.

You will be the steward of our resources and the architect of the systems that make our work possible – from ensuring strong fiscal health to supporting a globally dispersed team to do their best work. Reporting to the Executive Director, you’ll be a key member of the leadership team, partnering with staff, the Board, and Finance Committee to sustain the organizational heartbeat that keeps the Seeds of Peace mission thriving.

Core Responsibilities

Financial Stewardship

●        Lead with integrity and insight in overseeing all aspects of financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and compliance.

●        Guide the annual budget process in partnership with senior leadership and the Board Finance Committee.

●        Prepare clear, accurate, and timely financial reports that empower decision-making and transparency.

●        Ensure compliance with GAAP, IRS, and state regulations; manage annual audit and 990 preparation.

●        Monitor cash flow, reserves, and long-term financial sustainability aligned with organizational priorities.

●        Cultivate strong relationships with banks, auditors, and other financial partners.

Operations & Administration

●        Oversee administrative systems that help a globally distributed team work smoothly and joyfully.

●        Ensure compliance with international regulations for employment, fundraising, and travel.

●        Lead policies, contracts, insurance, benefits, and risk management with both rigor and care.

●        Continually refine internal systems and processes that support effective, values-aligned collaboration.

Team & Culture

●        Manage and mentor a small, capable Finance & Administration team; foster a culture of accountability, learning, and shared purpose.

●        Partner with program and development teams to align financial planning with impact goals and grant budgets.

●        Equip staff with financial literacy, tools, and confidence to be responsible stewards of resources.

●        Contribute to a warm, connected, and trusting organizational culture across time zones and contexts.

Technology & Systems

●        Ensure that our systems (Google Workspace, ADP and payment platforms, and other cloud-based tools) work in harmony to serve the team.

●        Safeguard data integrity, security, and accessibility.

●        Partner with leadership to identify new technology solutions that make our work more transparent, efficient, and connected.

Who You Are

●        A seasoned finance and operations leader (10+ years, minimum 5 years within non-profit finance departments) with a heart for mission-driven work.

●        Deep knowledge of nonprofit accounting standards (GAAP), compliance, and audit/tax processes.

●        Experienced with international or remote teams and adept at bridging structure with flexibility.

●        Proficient with Sage Intacct, bill.com, Excel/Google Sheets, and Google Workspace; CRM experience a plus.

●        CPA or MBA is valued, though not required.

●        A clear communicator who can translate complex financial realities into meaningful insights.

●        A natural mentor who leads with clarity, care, and collaboration.

●        A believer in the Seeds of Peace mission – and in the quiet power of well-run systems to help people do extraordinary things.
