The Positive Discipline Association (PDA), a U.S. 501c3 non-profit, is entering a transition period as we strengthen our infrastructure and prepare for organizational growth. The Board will be composed of a ratio of 2/3 of members who are outside the organization, and 1/3 of members who are affiliated with the organization as members, educators and trainers, including a seat for a representative of the Positive Discipline Founder. We are looking for a strong leader to join our Board of Directors as Vice President (President-Elect) who has experience with being part of a nonprofit board that changed from operational to governance.
About the PDA
For more than 20 years, the PDA has supported trainers, educators, mental health professionals, and families around the world in bringing Positive Discipline into homes, schools, and communities. Our work is global with work in 90 countries, community- based, and grounded in dignity, respect, and belonging. As we grow, we are building a board that reflects the strategic vision and governance support the organization needs for the next chapter.
About the Role
This is a three-year leadership term that moves from Vice President to President to Immediate Past President. This role is volunteer and governance focused. Expectations include:
Serving on the Executive Committee
Acting as liaison to standing committees
Supporting board development, onboarding, and recruitment
Working with consultant to put organization policies and procedures in place
Working with President to develop smart goals and assessment process for the Board
Stepping in for the President when needed
Preparing to assume the Board President role in the following term
o The President overseas two direct reports: Director of Strategic Growth and Finance and Operations Manager, including developing smart goals that will be used for annual evaluation
